St. John’s Point lighthouse is one of twelve lighthouses which make up the Great Lighthouses of Ireland and forms part of Fáilte Irelands new tourism initiative the Wild Atlantic Way.
The refurbishment of the existing lighthouse building, which is a Protected Structure, to provide two high quality self-catering rental accommodation units, all enclosed within a walled compound.
The challenge for this project was to work with local communities to provide high quality accommodation with all the benefits of modern living while also protecting and enhancing the heritage value and historic maritime safety services to deliver economic and tourism benefits.
